Wiley Post and his navigator, Harold Gatty, took off for a round the world flight in the single-engine airplane, the "Winnie Mae." from Roosevelt Field, New York. they arrived back at Roosevelt Field on July 1st , completing the trip with a record time of eight days, 15 hours and 51 minutes.

A man was charged with drunken driving in a motorized wheelchair after being found asleep off of a highway by police in Cairns, Australia. The man's blood alcohol level was six times the legal limit and he had told officers he was out to visit friends.
