United Kingdom New Immigration Bill Feb. 24th, 1971 : A new Immigration Bill announced today will restrict Commonwealth citizens automatic rights to remain in the UK, they will now be treated with the same restrictions as any other person applying to live and work in Britain. This bill is in response to the public concern about a large number of immigrants entering Britain in the last few years.

Abraham Lincoln's former Vice President, Andrew Johnson, becomes the first President of the United States to be impeached by the House of Representatives because his plans to restore the country following the Civil War came into conflict with the Republican-dominated congress. He was acquitted by one vote, and served out four years as president.
