    SOMALI PIRATES SENTENCED TO JAIL
    May 3, 2011 - Spain

    Two Somali pirates convicted of hijacking a boat in 2009 were sentenced to four hundred and thirty-nine years each of prison time. The two men had held a tuna fishing boat hostage, detaining thirty-six crew members for nearly fifty days. Despite the lengthy sentence that was handed down, the hijackers will only have to serve a maximum of thirty years in prison due to Spanish laws.

    CHAVEZ THREATENS BANK NATIONALIZATION
    May 3, 2007 - Venezuela

    Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez, threatened to nationalize the country's banking industry. Chavez declared that unless the banks concentrate on the "national interest" they will be nationalized. Chavez also threatened to nationalize the nation's largest steel producer unless they provide cheaper goods. These threats came after his somewhat successful nationalization of the Venezuelan media, electric, and oil industries.

Was initially granted for five years in December 1999. The school opened in August 2000 under the leadership of founding Head Learner, Tony Gerlicz. That year, 121 students were enrolled in seventh and eighth grades, and every year since then a new 7th grade of 60 students has entered the school. By the 2004-2005 school year we had a full complement of 360 students in grades 7 through 12. The Class of 2005 was our first graduating class. Monte del Sol's Charter was renewed in 2004 and again in 2009 for a further five years with the Santa Fe School District.
