OBAMA UNAWARE OF HIS AUNT BEING AN ILLEGAL ALIEN
November 1, 2008 - United States
November 1, 2008 - United States
Barack Obama says that he did not know that his Kenyan aunt was living illegally in the United States. Reports say that Zeituni Onyango lost a bid for asylum in 2004. She lives in public housing in Boston. Obama's presidential campaign has issued a statement that: "Senator Obama has no knowledge of her status but obviously believes that any and all appropriate laws be followed."
BARBED WIRE
November 1, 1873 - U.S.A.
November 1, 1873 - U.S.A.
Joseph F. Glidden began manufacturing his new invention of barbed wire, having filed for a patent a few days before, on 27 Oct 1873 which was issued on 24 Nov 1874. The barbs were cut from sheet metal and were inserted between two wires which were twisted considerably more than with today's common design. This product would transform the West. Before this innovation, settlers on the treeless plains had no easy way to fence livestock away from cropland, and ranchers had no way to prevent their herds from roaming far and wide. Glidden's barbed wire opened the plains to large-scale farming, and closed the open range, bringing the era of the cowboy and the round-up to an end.

The wealth of the nation
by Earth Day, Gaylord Nelson
"...The wealth of the nation is its air, water, soil, forests, minerals, rivers, lakes, oceans, scenic beauty, wildlife habitats and biodiversity that'as all there is. That'as the whole economy. That'as where all the economic activity and jobs come from. These biological systems are the sustaining wealth of the world...."
by Theodore Roosevelt
"..."No man is above the law and no man is below it; nor do we ask any man's permission when we require him to obey it. Obedience to the law is demanded as a right; not asked as a favor."..."

about Stolen On New Year's
More vehicles are stolen on New Year's Day than any other holiday throughout the year. (So does that mean thieves are having their last fling before changing their ways or are they trying for a big score to start the New Year?)
