    PACKARD FIRST ROAD TEST
    November 6, 1899 - Warren, Ohio, U.S.A.

James Packard and his brother, William Doud Packard, had finished building a car of their own design, and gave it a road test on the streets of Warren, Ohio. As a mechanical engineer, when he was dissatisfied the Winton car he had had bought, and gave his criticsms to the manufacturer, it is said that Alexander Winton gave him a curt reply suggesting that he build his own, if he thought he could do better. It took fourteen months for the Packard brothers, with two men hired from Winton, to produce what became known as the Packard Model A. It had high wire wheels, was steered by a tiller rather than a wheel, and was powered by a single-cylinder engine under the seat. Packard had invented the automatic spark advance as an improvement. He sold the car for $1250, and thus began in business.

    MOTORWAY M1
    November 6, 1959 - England, UK

The first two deaths occurred on England's first motorway, the M1. It had been opened only four days earlier on 2 Nov 1959. Two lorry drivers died when they crashed into the back of vehicles halted by a minor crash. In the multiple-vehicle crash which occurred in thick fog, five persons were injured. The new superhighway without a speed limit had traffic jams in both directions for several hours. It was the first part of a planned 400-mile motorway network that was the greatest road transport improvement project since the famous straight roads the Romans built. It was a quarter-century late by international standards, but its design benefitted from knowledge gained from expressways already built in the U.S. and Europe.

ARTICLE INFORMATION :

The article is dedicated to the description of radio controlled cars based on the remote control system, their types, designation and ways of exploitation.

ARTICLE CONTENT :

Radio controlled trucks, or RC cars as they are commonly referred to, are a fun way of spending time both for children and adults. Their work is founded on a system of remote control. One more type of remote control trucks is wire connection cars, but radio controlled cars are more popular. Radio controlled trucks are usually divided into two groups: toy model trucks produced for children and hobby-grade model which is designated for adolescents and adult people.

These 2 versions of radio controlled cars are different, but still have something in common. Both of them constitute copies of real vehicles and are controlled through radio control. But there're a certain number of distinctive differences between these two variants. First of all, a toy variant is a solid plastic representation of the car when at the same time the hobby-grade model is very close to a real-life vehicle in relation to outward appearance and individual parts. The hobby-grade models are designed in the same manner like a real truck.

Furthermore, this variant demands the same service and maintenance like you are the owner of a real life vehicle. There are various methods of powering hobby-grade RC cars. They could be electrically, fuel or even nitro powered. Making a decision which one to take isn't that easy. All the versions have their advantages and disadvantages that should be carefully thought over. For instance, an electric powered RC car will be lighter that a petrol run one, but the first will be slower than the last one.

Whatever the case, these trucks are so intricate, that every enthusiast can change his electric car into a fuel run one, or vice versa, without particular efforts.
What is so particular about hobby-grade radio-controlled cars that attracts attention of numerous men of all ages to them. In general, it's their complexity. It is not a toy, it's actually a real truck, but very small.

Moreover, these radio controlled cars can be used for racing and what man would refuse to feel oneself a racer. It is much more fun than computer games, that is why RC cars are so attractive to adult men.
Evidently, radio-controlled trucks are a wonderful pastime. But still do not forget that it will demand a lot of maintenance, repair and upgrading. So this hobby is quite expensive, but it is a truly unforgettable experience.
